According to the English censuses William lived at the following places: 1841 Perran Downs, Perranuthnoe, 1851 Goldsithney (father died soon after census), 1861 Lodger at 39 Back Street, Marazion, 1863 Churchtown Perranuthnoe, 1871 1 The Cliff, Marazion, 1881 Longrock, Ludgvan (Elizabeth died after), 1891 Boskennal, Ludgvan,1901 Crowlas, Ludgvan (Mary died before census).

It is noted that their is a discrepancy between the baptism record and the marriage record for Elizabeth Noel Curnow. It is possible that the Richard Curnow given on the marriage certificate as the father is an error. As Elizabeth’s mother died before Elizabeth was two years of age, it is possible she was looked after by a relative or close friend. Elizabeth seems to be missing from the 1851 and 1861 censuses.

The name Noel, Noal, Noall has been used over a five generation period. Elizabeth Noel Curnow’s father, William Curnow, was the son of John Curnow and Mary Noall.  So Elizabeth got her grandmother’s surname as a middle name. Two of Elizabeth’s sons reused the name. John Sampson’s first child was Elizabeth Noall Sampson and the other son James Thomas & Clara Sampson named their last daughter Noal Sampson.
