William or Willie as he is referred to on some records grew up in St Just in Penwith. As a 16 year old he travelled with his brother Joseph to meet up with his older brother John, who was working in the mines at Globe in Arizona. At this point it is not known if William stayed in the USA or returned to Cornwall as no documents have thus far been located to substantiate where he lived.
The 1891 English Census finds William as a ten month old baby.
By the time of the next census William is a ten years old.
In 1906 William, then 16, travels with his brother Joseph to lodge with their older brother John Hicks in Globe, Arizona. Did William stay in the USA or did he return to England?
